Jenivit Marrero Solis

Studio Arts Cal State Northridge

Hello, my name is Jenivit Solis and I have been creating art through different mediums here in the San Fernando Valley. I am a full-time DACA student working on receiving a Bachelor's in Studio Arts at Cal State Northridge. During my time as a student, I immersed myself in various artistic mediums, from painting and sculpture to photography and digital design. Each course challenged me to push boundaries and think outside the box, fostering a sense of innovation within me. The guidance of experienced professors further honed my skills and encouraged me to experiment with different techniques. In addition to academic pursuits, I actively sought out internships and exhibitions that enabled me to showcase my work beyond the classroom walls. Looking back on this journey, I am grateful for the challenges faced along the way as they molded me into a resilient artist capable of adapting to any situation. This biography serves as a testament not only to obtaining an academic degree but also to embracing one's passion wholeheartedly,

Brenda Lezama

Psychology University of California Merced

Hello! I'm a first generation Latina college student who was born and raised in South Los Angeles. I come from Mexican descent and given first-hand how difficult the talk of mental health is in my culture, I aspire to bring more awareness to mental health in my community. I'm majoring in Psychology with the dream to one day work as a therapist for a non-profit organization that helps provide mental health services to under-served communities. Despite my goals I strive to try out new things in search of fun opportunities. My search has led me to participate in a student organization called Students Run Los Angeles which trains students in a set of challenges to complete the Los Angeles Marathon. I myself, have participated in 4 marathons through my middle and high school years. Despite how intense the training got, it's helped to shape who I am today as well as the relationships I have come to obtain through my time in the program. Outside my time in school, I have a passion for the visual arts ranging from watching Broadway musicals, creating digital and traditional arts, and listening to music.

Makenna Garcia

Nursing Azusa Pacific University

I am a college student majoring in nursing and minoring in honors humanities. I am passionate about nursing and hope to one day become a labor and delivery or NICU nurse. Most of my time is spent doing school work, studying for exams, and acquiring my clinical hours. I also am a student leader on campus as I am a mentor for honors students and lead global medical mission trips with my school. While nursing school has been challenging, I love it! It is very difficult for me to work because I have such little availability with the demands of my classes and my leadership positions. Any help I can get financially helps me with groceries, gas, and of course school expenses! Carolina Gonzalez

Mechanical Engineering California State University Los Angeles

Being the first in my family to attend college, I've embraced the learning curve, determined to create opportunities for myself and honor the hard work of my parents. Every step of my academic journey has been a lesson in perseverance and adaptation as I navigate a system that's unfamiliar to my family. My commitment to not burden my parents with additional financial strain beyond tuition has been a driving force. However, the escalating costs of necessities like gas, parking passes, and unexpected meals due to extended study hours have become increasingly challenging to manage. Despite working part-time as a student assistant, it's been a constant juggling act to stay afloat financially. The rising prices of these essentials have made it even more difficult to balance work, academics, and the everyday costs of being a college student. Your support would not only alleviate this financial burden but would also enable me to focus more on my studies and continue striving toward my dream of obtaining a master's in aeronautical engineering. Your generosity would not just impact me; it would honor the sacrifices of my parents and empower me to give back to my community by pursuing a career in a field where diversity and inclusion are much needed.
