Hello! I’m a first generation Latina college student who was born and raised in South Los Angeles. I come from Mexican descent and given first-hand how difficult the talk of mental health is in my culture, I aspire to bring more awareness to mental health in my community. I’m majoring in Psychology with the dream to one day work as a therapist for a non-profit organization that helps provide mental health services to under-served communities. Despite my goals I strive to try out new things in search of fun opportunities. My search has led me to participate in a student organization called Students Run Los Angeles which trains students in a set of challenges to complete the Los Angeles Marathon. I myself, have participated in 4 marathons through my middle and high school years. Despite how intense the training got, it’s helped to shape who I am today as well as the relationships I have come to obtain through my time in the program. Outside my time in school, I have a passion for the visual arts ranging from watching Broadway musicals, creating digital and traditional arts, and listening to music.
