As college students, it’s often challenging to locate essential yet straightforward information. Sometimes, we may hesitate due to fear of making mistakes or feel overwhelmed by the abundance of information available. Fortunately, the “Things you should know” section serves as a reliable resource, providing the crucial and consistently valuable information necessary for a successful college year.

FAFSA Enrollment

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) stands as a crucial tool for students seeking financial support for their college education. It is recommended that every student, irrespective of income level, submit a FAFSA application.
Early submission remains beneficial, even if deadlines seem distant. Stay informed to avoid any issues, and find reassurance in knowing your submission dates.

Create FSA ID
The FSA ID is a username and password combination you use to log in to U.S. Department of Education (ED) online systems. Creating and Using the FSA ID.

FAFSA DEADLINE
The FAFSA form must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. Central time (CT) on June 30, 2025. Any corrections or updates must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. CT on Sept. 14, 2025.

CHECK YOUR STATE DEADLINE
Each state has its own deadline, as do the schools themselves. You can look up your respective deadlines here. You should also contact your school’s financial aid office for guidance, as well.

How to be ready for your FAFSA application process.

Prepare Documentation in Advance: Gather necessary information, including tax returns, income records, and Social Security numbers, before accessing the FAFSA form. Keep copies of all gathered documents and any completed forms for future reference.

Create Your FSA Account: Before filling out the FAFSA form, establish your FSA ID, a mandatory credential for accessing and signing the application. It’s possible to create your FSA ID independently of completing the FAFSA.

Utilize the Federal Student Aid Estimator. Estimate your potential financial aid package by using the Federal Student Aid Estimator. This tool approximates the financial aid award you may be eligible for as an applicant.

Be Aware of FAFSA Deadlines Familiarize yourself with the designated FAFSA submission deadlines. While the Education Department typically forwards information to colleges in late January (subject to potential delays due to technology issues), it is crucial not to underestimate the importance of deadlines months in advance.
